Assisting Search & Rescue through Visual Attention
To locate a lost individual in the wilderness, an unmanned aerial vehicle is flown to provide a live camera view of the terrain. Through the use of several user-experience experiments involving eye-tracking technology, a series of presentation methods that exploit the human visual system were developed and documented. The eye-movement data was ruthlessly analysed.

Managed and developed part of an ongoing European Union funded project creating an intelligent diabetes monitoring system. Represented the university at regular international meetings and collaborated with multiple consortium members of various disciplines. Developed and methodically researched a series of low-power signal filtering algorithms for the wireless physiological monitoring aspect of the project.

Maintained and documented the group's eclectic infrastructure of various Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux and Solaris servers. Helping and advising students and staff with configuration and general help-desk tasks. Liaised with the college for the procurement and configuration of additional server capacity and the relocation of existing systems. Developed and procured a custom electronic noticeboard to advertise the group to visitors and remind members of meetings and documentation updates. Trained and continue to advise my replacements.

Created a two week laboratory course to teach second year undergraduates how to turn an individual microcontroller into a wireless power monitoring system, involving breadboard prototyping, embedded C programming, Python programming and wireless system debugging. In a team, the laboratory, instruction manual and assessment criteria were developed. Part of the team who taught, assessed and interviewed students for this course.

Interests and Activities
I enjoy taking architectural photographs with antique cameras. I develop and print the photographs myself using traditional techniques, and I have demonstrated my photography in several small exhibitions over the past few years.
As the Darkroom Manager of the Imperial College Union Photographic Society for two years, I maintained the darkroom (involving the procurement, storage and safe handling of photographic chemicals) and taught darkroom skills to classes and offered advice to both students and staff. I was an active member of the committee and the Media Group and still try and help to this day.
I enjoy tinkering with anything electronic, such as modifying equipment to suit my needs. I accomplish this by a mixture of coding solutions or designing and implementing hardware around micro-controllers to produce something new and easy to use. For example, my workstation currently indicates its load on an analogue dial while a LED display indicates the current Bitcoin exchange rate.
